Forget that whole 0-16 thing. A Browns regular-season victory has never been more important. There’s now beer at stake. Brecksville-based House of LaRose and Bud Light have teamed up with the Browns to place so-called Victory Fridges in select bars in Northeast Ohio that will remain locked until the team wins its first regular-season game. The smart-technology refrigerators will magically open once the Browns’ elusive victory in more than a year is sealed. Those lucky fans — ages 21 and older — celebrating around the fridges will then get a free aluminum bottle of Bud Light to toast the victory. “The Bud Light Browns ‘Victory Fridge’ is a fun way to celebrate and reward a fan base that has never wavered in enthusiasm or dedication for their team no matter what happens,” said Andy Goeler, Bud Light’s vice president of marketing. “We’re proud to show our support for Cleveland, and we’re always looking to bring NFL fans and friends together for memorable experiences. It’s going to be fun to be part of the celebration when the team earns their first victory of the season.” One of the fridges will be at FirstEnergy Stadium. Browns Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Dave Jenkins said the team is working hard to ensure a quick victory or two or three or more this season to make sure the beer doesn’t go flat while chilling in the fridges. “Our top priorities are to build a consistently winning team and to create unique experiences for Browns fans, and the Bud Light Cleveland Browns Victory Fridges will give our fans a special opportunity to celebrate our first win of the 2018 season,” Jenkins said. “We have the most passionate, loyal fans in sports, and we are excited to partner with Bud Light on this promotion that they created specifically for Northeast Ohio due to Browns fans’ unmatched support of our team.” The brewer, citing legal reasons, says it cannot disclose where the other fridges are located — aside from the one at the stadium — but they should be hard to miss. The fridges stand over 6 feet tall and are bright orange with the Cleveland Browns written on top. They have a glass door showing they are fully stocked with Bud Light waiting to be consumed. The last time the Browns won a regular-season game was on Christmas Eve 2016, when they beat the Chargers. Craig Webb, who is ready to bust out the Browns ugly Christmas sweater that he wore the night of the team’s last regular season win, can be reached at cwebb@thebeaconjournal.com or 330-996-3547.
