The “boy band” BROCKHAMPTON — a sprawling, multiracial American collective of 13 rappers, producers, and creatives — met on a Kanye West online message forum after founder Kevin Abstract asked if anyone wanted to start a band. The group occupies a two-story house together in Hollywood, where they produce content in furious, hyperactive spurts: They released their debut mixtape, All American Trash, in 2016, followed by three albums — Saturation, Saturation II, and Saturation III — in 2017. In 2018, they signed a record deal with RCA, performed on Jimmy Fallon, and announced a new Beats 1 radio show.
In addition to Dari Mart stores, Lochmead ice creams can be found at a handful of local grocers including Market of Choice’s Eugene locations. And while the retail price (typically $5.99 at Dari Mart) might reflect a premium over many other ice-cream brands, it also reflects Lochmead’s locavore quality and sustainable pedigree. Plus, Lochmead is one of the only ice cream makers that still sells true half-gallon (64-ounce) containers rather than the 56- or even 48-ounce packages that have become the retail norm.

Fridge space comprises three shelves, a bottle rack, two salad drawers and big drawer pockets. You’ll find it hard to get more space in the fridge without upgrading to a far larger side-by-side model. Annoyingly, the salad drawer catches on the fridge door, making it awkward to open. Freezer space is a little more compact, but you still get three drawers, which should be sufficient for most families.
After going through all of this effort to make ice cream from scratch, you’ll also want to have a good cone from which to lick it. And making your own cones from scratch is worth the extra step, especially when compared to the store-bought options, which, according to Bauer, are optimized for sturdiness rather than flavor. “Buying cones, you’re buying cones that can survive shipping, which means they have to be really hard, but when you make them at home, they can really taste crispy and buttery, which is what you want. And it’s very easy, like making pancakes or waffles at home. It takes a little bit of practice to get used to rolling them, but the mistakes are flavorful, and you can eat them and it’s fun.” And when it comes to making ice cream, fun is really what matters the most.
When Bob Neal sold off his minority industry in the plant, he kept the House of Flavors restaurant next door, which was a much bigger operation than the mom-and-pop businesses of the same name. The restaurant serves ice cream, of course, but also breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, french fries, salads, soups and full dinners, including roasted turkey.

There’s one room, however, that people may be shocked to hear many apartments are doing away with. Previously a must in any home, the kitchen is obsolete by modern standards. Even today, it is often the center of a home, absolutely essential and the first room to check out when you’re looking for a new place. However, these days seem to be passing. Many people in the city just have food delivered to their homes. New food delivery services like Waitr can pick up restaurant food from any place on your mind and deliver the meal right to your door.
